Having a great DAILY plan, understanding the hours, allocating the perfect crew, having materials on hand and staged and really monitoring production is the heart of the job. Understanding production targets down to the day and giving your crew realistic goals that they can get their heads around is critical. You have to know the contract and schedule and keep daily production on track, but you want your crew to have goals that are clear and tight so they do not get lost and have a sense of 鈥渃losure" working the chunks you break down and provide for them.聽Planning is a critical element here. You will be involved (the brains not the computer jockey) developing fully loaded critical path schedules working with the project manager. We are not sure there is an industry standard term here but we will call this skill horse-trading.
